In 2017 Angelus Temple, located in California, made the decision to go solar! Angelus Temple is the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel’s oldest church. They are of penecostal denomination and have greatly expanded into all 50 states, reaching many people, since their beginning in 1923.
The Challenge
Angelus Temple is a meaningful landmark that is rich with history; and continues to make important strides in the present. In 2017 they acknowledged the urgency of one of the modern world’s biggest challenges, climate change. This inspired them to establish new environmental initiatives for the church, because they recognized that it is a problem that affects everyone and needs to be managed. So they wanted to do their part!
While sustainability was their main concern, they also wanted to look for ways to save money and lower their monthly expenses. After deliberation, they decided that solar energy seemed like the best option that could encompass both of their goals.
The RENU Solution
They officially decided to move forward with a solar project after learning that they would be able to fit a substantial 521kW system on their 7 story parking structure. This sized system is quite large which allows them to have a significant impact on the environment and their monthly utility costs. Because of these savings, they are be able to put these savings to better use with the individual churches and the Foursquare Foundation’s multitude of efforts and programs.

In an historic neighborhood of Los Angeles undergoing a rapid renaissance, a non-profit was preparing to open a senior living community. Now known as Parkview Senior Living Center, this is a well respected establishment that is dedicated to providing the best care possible to its community members.
The Challenge
During the planning and design process for this nonprofit, it was decided that they had a few environmentally conscious goals in mind. They wanted to combat high energy costs, attract eco-conscious residents, and keep their budget on track long-term. With all of this in mind, they began searching for an opportunity that would be able to address all of these components.
The RENU Solution
It became clear that solar would be the best route to take because it encompassed everything they were looking for. Later, it was decided that a 73 kiloWatt system would be the most optimal size in order to maximize efficiency and offset energy costs. With the assistance of a diverse set of partners spanning project financing and loans, paperwork, and installation, in December 2017 Parkview’s solar installation was completed and came online.

B&M Lee Oil Company, located in Wadesboro North Carolina, has made the commitment to going solar! They are a local oil and gas wholesaler and manufacturer that has made their commitment to their customers and the environment quite clear through this move.
The Challenge
Just like the case with so many businesses and individuals, energy prices appear to constantly rise and change with little warning. This can be incredibly inconvenient and costly for people especially when looking at the big picture. So in an effort to take control of their situation, B&M Lee Oil Company looked for some kind of alternative that would provide them with consistency. They discovered that one of the most cost effective routes they could take, would be to look into solar energy.
The RENU Solution
Owners of the company got into contact with Renu Energy Solutions, and began exploring the possibility of installing some kind of solar array onto their facility in hopes of accomplishing their goals of saving money, while also benefiting the environment. Members of Renu’s experienced team assessed the area and told them that they would be able to develop a 38 kW system, which would maximize their investment. After much thought, they decided to move forward with the project.
With the system producing 38,005 kWh annually, they will be offsetting 59,241 pounds of carbon dioxide each year. This equates to the amount of carbon sequestered by 35 acres of U.S. forests, and 66,678 miles driven by a passenger vehicle.

This Winston-Salem brewery made a big commitment in 2017, when it announced something no other production brewery in the Triad had up to that point: Wise Man Brewing was going solar. The solar system sends a message as Wise Man Co-Founder Jason Morehead puts it, “We have always had a focus on sustainability. Now that we’re up and running, we’ve been able to take a step back and focus more on our footprint. Anyone who has been to our taproom knows that community is core to Wise Man’s culture. Being an environmentally friendly brewery is central to being a good neighbor and responsible business.”
The Challenge
This choice was made clearly with environmental well-being at the root, but also to address electricity costs, which can be substantial in the brewery industry. With the understanding that the initial costs of solar begin to pay for themselves immediately after the system is turned on, the decision was made for Wise Man Brewing to start looking into options for adding a solar system to their establishment.
The RENU Solution
After discussing with representatives from Renu Energy Solutions, both parties were able to agree that a 34-kiloWatt solar system would be the appropriate size for the brewery. This system will be able to effectively offset a majority of their future utility bills.
In addition to this solar update, Wise Man also added insulation, LED lights, and high-efficiency water taps, in hopes of creating a more energy efficient environment within their business.
The customer foresees projected savings on monthly operating costs thanks to the efficiency measures combined with solar, according to advanced software programs used during the consultation process for the solar installation.
With the energy savings that will come from this project they will save over 66,000 pounds of carbon dioxide each year, which is equivalent to 74,564 miles driven by an average passenger vehicle.

Take Flight Properties is a company that specializes in “real estate management, brokerage and development”. Having served the Charlotte area for many years, Take Flight Properties prides themselves on providing a positive experience for clients through quality service and assistance.
The Challenge
For the properties office, monthly operating costs from electric bills were already high and news of looming rate increases were even more troubling. After much thought, this led the business owner to consider something “out of the box”. What if they were able to produce their own power?- But how would that work? What would it look like? Could that save money?
The RENU Solution
After meeting with members of the Renu energy solutions team, they were told that this idea was not only entirely possible, but could also greatly benefit their business. The business owner learned that with a modest 3.22 kiloWatt solar system, their pesky utility bills could be offset, allowing the management to redistribute the savings into the business. A 30% federal tax credit made the picture look even better. So with all of this information, Take Flight Properties committed to going solar.
Since the installation, Take Flight Properties has enhanced its financial stability for the long-term by going solar and now is significantly less worried about rising utility rates. Even for a business with only average energy use, solar can be a wise investment.
Clients view solar as a feature of a forward-thinking company ready to put a proven technology to work, and this is a frame that translates into all of Take Flight’s business plan.
They will also greatly impact the environment through investing in renewable energy sources and reducing their carbon dioxide emissions.
