Spotlight: Brandon Herman
Spotlight on a Solar Pro: Brandon Herman
For November’s spotlight on a Solar Pro, Renu wanted to highlight someone who is praised by his coworkers and has a passion for everything solar: Brandon Herman. Not to mention, he is also our Field Team Employee of the Month!
Brandon Herman was born in Statesville, NC, and raised in Valle Crucis and Hendersonville. As a teenager, Brandon worked for a local casket company where he learned a lot about the circle of life. He later attended Western Carolina University, where he studied Forensic Psychology and Applied Criminology.
After graduating from Western, Brandon worked in various sales roles for close to 10 years. However, around five years ago, Brandon was introduced to the solar industry by a family friend, Andrew O’Donnell. What started as a small chat lead Brandon to pursuing a career in the renewable energy industry. His current role as Senior Manager of Field Operations makes him in charge of leading our hard-working install team to complete flawless installations for homeowners around the Carolinas.
“I came on board at Renu, immediately fell in love with the company and renewable energy. It’s been almost five years, and it was the best decision I ever made. This industry offers a career track that can take many paths, and all will be in high demand. Every day is different, and every day is a challenge.”
When asked “What advances in our industry makes you the most excited about our future?”, Brandon stated,
“The combination of smart home technology, energy storage advances, and community-level smart grids. The innovation and collaboration within the industry are ramping up at a breakneck pace, and it’s incredibly exciting to be apart of the movement! Younger generations are also becoming more and more passionate about renewable energy and combined with the explosion of technology and industry partnerships. We are at the forefront of a global shift in how we think about energy. Knowing how much the industry has progressed in the past five years… who knows where we’ll be in another five! What’s not to be excited about?”
In his free time, you can find Brandon enjoying anything outdoors. From kayak fishing to hunting during the winter months. Brandon truly loves anything outdoors.
“We have a unique opportunity to create energy independence and in many cases, fulfill people’s long-term dreams. It’s humbling to be apart of this industry-we create power from the sun, but we have an obligation to do things the right way, the first time. It’s easy to get caught up in being busy and moving from job to job, but we have to remember that each homeowner is the most important one.”
Motivated and with an active leadership role, Brandon Herman is a perfect example of the ideal employee at Renu Energy Solutions. We are proud to have him leading our field team and helping thousands of Carolinians go solar!

Frequently Asked Questions About Solar for Your Home:
How exactly does going solar and a solar system itself work?
How many solar panels do I need for my home?
Roof-size/available space: When we look at the size of your roof and the space available, we gather data that tell us the maximum number of solar panels your home or site can hold and we even consider shading. We use a software “Suneye” which takes a 360 picture of your roof and we use this photo to determine if your home is a good candidate for solar.
Energy Usage: When we determine energy usage we look at your past electrical bills from over the course of a year to make sure your system isn’t too big or too small.
Your Budget: We take your budget seriously and most importantly, we want you to be satisfied with our services. We take your feedback on how much you want to spend so that we can size your system appropriately.
