Benefits of Going Solar for Breweries
You may be asking yourself, “Is it really worth it for my brewery to install a solar system?” The answer is: absolutely! With the enormous amount of energy it takes to power a brewery, utilizing renewable options like solar is a no-brainer. Because of the need to operate various pieces of equipment like bottling and canning lines, conveyor belts, cooling and refrigeration systems, labeling machines, and waste and cleaning treatments, utility bills can really start to pile up. On top of that, many breweries also have an attached office space to manage the business operations and large social spaces that need to accommodate both customers and employees, meaning they are required to to be well-lit and comfortably heated and cooled.
In addition to saving money on energy costs, a brewery with solar is established as a green leader in the industry, showing the community and the competition that it’s possible to operate at peak efficiency while maintaining a small carbon footprint. Converting to renewable energy shows your surrounding area that you’re dedicated to protecting the environment in which you live and work and hope to inspire other manufacturers and businesses to do the same!
Commercial Solar Tax Incentives
For businesses operating in the Carolinas, there is a commercial solar tax incentive that so many customers have already taken advantage of!
The solar investment tax credit (ITC) allows commercial solar customers to take 26 percent of their solar investment as a credit against their federal tax liability. The ITC applies to the complete costs of commercial solar systems, and there is no cap on its value (though the customer must have a tax liability to benefit from a tax credit). As a manufacturing facility, this is the perfect opportunity to acquire tax credits when you install your solar system!
Please note: at the end of 2020, the ITC goes down to 22% and continues to decrease in the future years.

The amount of electricity that a solar energy system will produce will depend on a number of factors, including the location of the home, system design, and much more. Ideally, a home with an unobstructed south-facing view will produce more than enough energy.
Installing battery backup along with your solar energy system for home or business is a smart move and can increase the value of your clean energy investment as well as peace of mind when a grid outage occur.
Electric cars – with no gas engine at all – now work for most budgets and lifestyles. With more and more models to choose from, drivers are choosing electric vehicles (or EVs) than ever before!
