Generac PWRcell
Energy Independence With Energy Storage
Back-up Power Generation with Generac PWRcell
Introducing the Generac PWRcell – a battery storage system that harnesses power from the sun to help reduce your electric bill and provide backup power during utility power outages. With rising energy costs and environmental threats looming over your head, it may seem like there’s no relief in sight. What you need is a solution that will help you save money, keep your home safe and reduce your carbon footprint.
Generac provides revolutionary technology that captures and stores electricity either from solar panels or the electrical grid. It allows you to use stored energy during peak demand times when electricity costs are high which helps reduce your electric bill saving you money.
PWRcell provides up to 10kW of surge power, enough to start an air conditioner or sump pump. You have access up to 8kW of continuous output, plenty to run most homes. For those who think the Tesla Powerwall is too expensive or don’t need as much storage as 13.5 kWh in the Powerwall, Generac PWRcell makes solar-plus-storage simple.
How does Generac PWRcell work?
Generac PWRcell is an intelligent home energy monitoring system equipped with PWRview energy monitoring technology, protecting you during times of power outage and allowing you to control your energy usage to save on utility costs.
– Get through the night on stored solar
– Protect what’s important; home and family during power outages
– Lower energy bills and avoid peak rates
– Gain greater independence from the grid
FAQ about the Generac PWRcell
How long will the Generac PWRcell battery last?
This depends on several factors including how much power the home consumes, the size of the PV array and battery, and when the outage occurs and how long it lasts.
For outages occurring while PV is producing, the PWRcell system will be able to provide maximum power and energy to support the loads. When the PV is not producing, backup support will be limited to the battery’s power and energy.
How much space does a Generac PWRcell take up? How much does it weigh?
The PWRcell battery is 68” tall, 22” wide and 10” deep. The PWRcell battery has a modular design with its heaviest component being the back of the enclosure at 75 pounds.
Where can it be installed?
It is highly recommended it be installed in an air conditioned space, and its narrow profile gives the homeowner many options, e.g., back hallway, utility room, garage (in moderate climates), etc.
What does the warranty cover?
The PWRcell battery warranty covers parts and labor for a period of 10 years. The battery modules are warrantied for 10 years or 7.56 MWh of guaranteed throughput, whichever comes first.
What’s its depth of discharge?
Generac PWRcell has a depth of discharge of 84%. In comparison, the Tesla Powerwall (13.5kW/14.0kW; 96% DoD) and LG Chem RESU10H (9.3/9.8; 95%) have much deeper depths of discharge, which will accelerate their performance degradation and shorten useful life
What’s its roundtrip efficiency?
PWRcell has a market-leading roundtrip efficiency of 96.5%, offering more energy for homeowners compared to Tesla Powerwall (90%), LG Chem RESU10H (94.5%) and Sonnen Eco (86%). In addition, those AC-coupled batteries all charge on the AC side of a PV inverter, which means they take an incremental efficiency hit before charging the battery, resulting in even less energy (kWhs) available to homeowners.
Can I install a PWRcell battery on my existing solar system?
In order to install a PWRcell battery on your existing solar system, you will need to replace your inverter solution with the Generac inverter and optimizers. We will offer an AC coupled solution in 2021.
Can I recycle the batteries?
Our lithium ion batteries can be recycled at a qualified electronic recycling center. Please contact Generac if you need assistance locating a recycling facility in your area.
Home Solar System
The amount of electricity that a solar energy system will produce will depend on a number of factors, including the location of the home, system design, and much more. Ideally, a home with an unobstructed south-facing view will produce more than enough energy.
Energy Storage
Installing battery backup along with your solar energy system for home or business is a smart move and can increase the value of your clean energy investment as well as peace of mind when a grid outage occur.
EV Chargers
Electric cars – with no gas engine at all – now work for most budgets and lifestyles. With more and more models to choose from, drivers are choosing electric vehicles (or EVs) than ever before!
